When Walgreen started its in-store clinics in 2004,

it named them Take Care Clinics, but now the chain will

rebrand them to be known as the Healthcare Clinic.  The

company says the change “allows us to leverage the strength

of the Walgreens brand to help attract and introduce new

patients to our retail clinic services.”  July comp-

store sales were up 6.3%, with pharmacy comps

up 8.8% and front ends up 2.3%…… General

Electric is breaking an aggressive new campaign

“Reimagining Home,” as its director of advertising

for appliances says “the lines have been blurred

between living room and kitchen.”  Advertising

Age says the timing of the effort is good–the

appliance industry is recovering after several

years of declining revenue during the housing

downturn.  Industry leader Whirlpool recently

reported a 75% gain in quarterly profits…… Good

Times Restaurants announced its fourth consecutive

month of double-digit same-store sales increases, up 17.9%

in July.  Its CEO added “we are early on in telling our brand

story through the new television campaign and very early in

our reimagining of older restaurants, which we believe bodes

well for continued momentum”……Chevrolet is cutting the

price of its Volt by about $5,000 to help it compete better

with competitive electrified vehicles.  In another move, GM

will ramp up production of the Buick Encore; Automotive

News says the company underestimated demand for the

model, which launched in January……Wells Fargo has a

relatively small credit card business, given its position as

the fourth largest bank in the country.  It debuted a Home

Rebate card a few years back, with a 1% rebate that went

directly into paying down principal of a Wells Fargo home

loan–now the bank will expand that idea with cards that can

pay down student and auto loans and other kinds of debt.
